Operational dialogue to become a requirement for our contractors

As of 1 September 2019, all subcontractors working for Elia will have to hold a '360°' meeting and a 'Morning Star' discussion. These two opportunities for consultation are intended to avoid any misunderstandings, promote operational dialogue and ensure that all workers understand what their colleagues are doing and the impact on their own activities. This measure is all about helping to achieve the goal of zero accidents with our contractors.

Renewables on the rise in the 50Hertz control area

In the first six months of 2019, there has been a significant increase in wind and solar power generation in the 50Hertz control area (30% more). This has been mainly due to the growth in installed wind and photovoltaic capacity. Renewable energy is continuing to make headway in northern and eastern Germany, substantially helping the federal government to meet its target of a 65% share for renewable energy in the German energy mix by 2030.

New 150-kV substation sees the light of day in Ans

On 11 July, a new 150-kV facility was commissioned in Ans. This new substation had become necessary because of the changing energy needs in the Liège region and the decommissioning and demolition of the 70-kV substation at Bressoux. The commissioning of this facility boosts security of supply and forms part of the complete overhaul of the topology of the 150- and 70-kV networks between the Gramme and Langerlo substations.
